Our Philharmonic Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra had their retreat on September 21st and 22nd! Our students were able to dissect their Fall All Ensembles Concert pieces during their retreat. Retreats unite our PYSO community to come together for a common cause. Students are able to bond with their peers and conductor during retreat, which contributes to a successful season. When an orchestra performs, you can hear if the group is tight or not. Performers need to have chemistry while they play, and they have to not only know how or when to play but also when not to play. It is very important that they listen to their peers while they play. As our students get familiar with their conductor and playing with each other, their performances will be solid. The recipe to a symphonic sound is not only about having a bunch of amazing and competent musicians in a group together, the musicians have to actually be able to play together.
